Programmable logic controller is the most commonly used in industrial process control technology. It’s eliminated much of conventional relay control circuits. The other benefits are easy programming, installation, troubleshooting, and high reliability.There are five standard languages in PLC :

• ·        Ladder Diagram (LD)

• ·        Function Block Diagram (FBD)

• ·        Sequential Function Chart (SFC)

• ·        Instruction List (IL)

• ·        Structured Text

Ladder diagram (LD) language is the most widely used in PLC language and is designed as representative of relay logic. Each PLC’s vendor has difference ladder diagram (LD) but its relay logic is very similar. Here are the PLC’s vendor which are the most commonly used in industrial process control technology :

• ·        Allen Bradley™ ( Rockwell Automation )

• ·        Siemens

• ·        ABB

• ·        Schneider

• ·        Omron

• ·        Modicon etc.

Allen Bradley™ is the highest reliability in Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and is the most expensive PLC. The price of its adaptor equals Mercedez-Benz SLK 300 Compressor. The Ladder Diagram (LD) from Allen Bradley called “ RX Logix “ or “ Control Logix “.

From the picture, I used Digital Input ( DI ) and Digital Output ( DO ) modules to control a coil using Timer and Counter.
