You guys must have been know about Surabaya Zoo. It is located on Setail street, in the southern area of Surabaya. Surbaya Zoo was built in 1916, under Netherlands government. At first, the zoo was located on Kaliondo. Later, in 1917 the zoo was moved to Groedo street and in 1920 the zoo was moved to Darmo area. Surabaya Zoo once became thebiggest and most complete zoo in southeast Asia, with botanical collection, aquariums, nocturama (room for nocturnal animals), there were over 351 different species that consist of over 2800 animals.
But have you ever heard of the news that Surabaya’s government is going to close this zoo?
This year, the government is going to close the zoo and change the function into something else. The minister of forestry Darori said he received a letter from Surabaya’s government saying they’re not going to put Surabaya’s Zoo in decree this year. Darori thinks Surabaya’s government wasn’t letting the investor manage the zoo, whereas the only problem of the zoo is lack of fund. That problem causes the animals didn’t get enough treatment. Over 250 animals dead in 2011 caused by the unfeasible nursing.
The closing of this zoo is confusing for me. I think it’s better if the government set the animals free or donate them to other zoo which can give more feasible treatment to the animals. It’s sad to see the animal’s death :( but in the ther hands, i want the zoo to stay exist because the building itself is a heritage and having a role in Surabaya’s historical story, plus, there’s no other place in Surabaya where we can find animals and plants :(

Guilty Pleasure :D
My one and only guilty pleasure is sweets. I can never resist ice creams, chocolates, crepes, pancakes, and other sugary foods. Here’s some sugary food I tried when I went to Bandung in early April ;)
Chocolates
How can we talk about sweets without mentioning chocolate? Everybody loves chocolate! *based on my own asumption :p*. When I was in Bandung, I went to Toko Coklat in Cimanuk street. The first thing I saw when I was entering Toko Coklat was a display full of chocolates :3 there are cakes, shaped chocolates, pralines, and chocolate-dipped fruits. I didn’t try the cakes, but I tasted the pralines. Pralines are chocolates with filling. I tried 8 or 9 pralines with different fillings such as almond, mocca, vanilla, coffee, mint, etc. I also tried the chocolate-dipped cherry, it was deliciously tempting :9 I suggest you to try those chocolates, because Toko Coklat sells their pralines for only IDR 5000 per piece :D
Crepes
The other place I visit when I was in Bandung was “Hummingbird” Eatery and Guest House, in Dago. I knew this restaurant from an article in my monthly magazine I bought last December. Because I was curious, I tried this restaurant when I went to Bandung. Hummingbird is a cafe or restaurant that sells foods and beverages, not a sugary shop like Toko Coklat. Because I didn’t want to eat something ‘heavy’ and because I love sweets, I skipped the main course and ordered a portion of Sweet Crepes. It was actually a pancake, only thinner. The Sweet Crepes was served with chocolate and strawberry sauce, pieces of strawberry and peach, and also a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Aaaaa yes it was awesomely delicious :3 it costs IDR 27000, a lil bit pricey, but surely the cost is reasonable for the delicious taste. You should try it once you go there :D
Brownies
Do you guys love brownies? Yes, so do I :D this delicious brown cake is one of the most famous cakes lately. Served with so many kind of toppings, is one of the reasons why brownies are popular. The one I bought in Bandung was brownies from Kartika Sari, a snack shop in Kebon Jukut street, near the railway station. There are many kind of brownies, but I only tried the brownies with chocolate chips on it. Yummy! It costs you IDR 40000 for a box of brownies :D
Ice cream
Yes, I love ice creams too :D I can’t remember how many times I eat ice creams, but I think durian ice cream is one of the most delicious ice creams I’ve ever tasted. Durian ice cream is an ordinary ice cream with durian flavor, but what makes this ice cream different is a real piece of durian served inside the ice cream. Yes, a whole piece of durian. Cold, soft, and delicious, right? You can find this ice cream on the sidestreet in almost every Bandung streets, the one I tried was on Kebon Jukut street, next to Kartika Sari snack shop, it costs only IDR 4000 for two big scoops of ice cream and a piece of durian :3
